Work Hours and Location: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (varied)  Mt. Vernon, KY

Position Summary:  Serves as an assistant in the daily functions of operating a retail business to include accountability for cash register usage and bank deposits, friendly and professional interaction and communication with customers; program participants and donors; responsible for detailed documentation, and setting pricing standards.  Provides training and job coaching to community, short term volunteers and cross training for the Grateful Bread staff.   Knowledgeable and able to perform all aspects of the Grateful Bread Food Pantry.  Ensures conformity to CAP policies, procedures, mission statement, retail store policies, and customer service standards to enable effective and professional delivery of program services.

Education Requirements:  High School Diploma or GED

Experience Requirements:  1-2 years experience in job related field or the combination of education and experience

Position:  Philanthropy Officer

Position Summary:  Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) seeks a dynamic and results-oriented individual as a Philanthropy Officer to work as a Major Gifts team member to help accomplish bold goals for the leading human services organization helping people in need in Appalachia.  CAP is headquartered in Paintsville, KY.  This position will be located in Lexington, KY, traveling 20 to 23 weeks per year out-of-state. 

The Philanthropy Officer will work closely with the Director of Philanthropy and the Major Gifts team members to ensure the organization has resources sufficient to carry out its mission and achieve its vision. The successful candidates will have 3 or more years of successful fundraising experience, including major gift work. Experience with a faith-based and/or human service organization is helpful. Desirable assets include: a demonstrated knowledge of all development areas, especially major and planned gifts, donor relations, and public relations; persuasive oral and written communication skills; and a high level of personal and professional integrity. A history of success in soliciting and securing major gifts is preferred. Regional and national travel, some evenings and weekends, and occasional special events are expected.

The Philanthropy Officer position responsibilities include:

·         Working with the Philanthropy team members to implement an annual plan for the major gifts program to achieve the charitable giving objectives and strategic plan goals of the organization

·         Working with the Philanthropy team members to grow an ongoing major and planned giving program, and securing major gifts from a portfolio of top prospects

·         Authentically reflecting and portraying the mission of Christian Appalachian Project

Education Requirements:  Bachelor's Degree in related field.

Experience Requirements:  3 or more years experience in job related field or the combination of education and experience.
