Position Summary: Chosen candidate will provide leadership throughout all the work and planning activities for the repair and new construction of homes.  Provides instruction and guidance of a diverser population of volunteers in a Faith-based setting.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED plus up to 18 months of specialized training/vocational education.  

Experience Requirements: 6 or more years of successful experience in related field of carpentry, construction, planning and estimating, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position: Philanthropy Officer
Program: Major Gifts

Position Summary: Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) seeks a dynamic and results-oriented individual as a Philanthropy Officer to work as a Major Gifts team member to help accomplish bold goals for the leading human services organization helping people in need in Appalachia. CAP is headquartered in Paintsville, Ky. This position will be located in Lexington, Ky.

The Philanthropy Officer will work closely with the Director of Philanthropy and the Major Gifts team members to ensure the organization has resources sufficient to carry out its mission and achieve its vision. The successful candidates will have 3 or more years of successful fundraising experience, including major gift work. Experience with a faith-based and/or human service organization is helpful. Desirable assets include: a demonstrated knowledge of all development areas, especially major and planned gifts, donor relations, and public relations; persuasive oral and written communication skills; and a high level of personal and professional integrity. A history of success in soliciting and securing major gifts is preferred. Regional and national travel, some evenings and weekends, and occasional special events are expected. A bachelor’s degree is required.

The Development Officer position responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Philanthropy team members to implement an annual plan for the major gifts program to achieve the charitable giving objectives and strategic plan goals of the organization
  • Working with the Philanthropy team members to grow an ongoing major and planned giving program, and securing major gifts from a portfolio of top prospects
  • Authentically reflecting and portraying the mission of Christian Appalachian Project

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree required in related field.

Experience Requirements: 3 plus years of successful experience in job-related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
