WorkFest

WorkFest

Visit our WorkFest 2010 Headquarters

WorkFest is CAP’s alternative spring break for college students. The event attracts more than 400 students from 40 different colleges and universities each March. At WorkFest, students serve in teams to repair substandard housing and build new homes for low-income families in eastern Kentucky. No prior building experience is necessary.

The WorkFest Experience
In order to give students a complete and fulfilling alternative spring break, WorkFest emphasizes service, learning and spirituality.

History
In the 1970s, a handful of colleges inquired about sending students to volunteer at CAP, and usually a group of 10 students would end up participating. Based on this, a CAP employee had the idea of turning this event into a “hands on” way to live out the Gospel and learn more about Appalachia at the same time.
