Current Volunteer Needs
One of the most common questions we receive from potential Christian Appalachian Project volunteers is “What is your greatest need?” Below are the programs that have immediate or upcoming needs.
Short-term (minimum three-week commitment)
The programs below will have a need for short-term volunteers this summer.
Summer Camp: Counselors, lifeguards, office help, arts & crafts instructors and registered nurses needed June 4 – August 3. Nurses are eligible for a 1-2 week commitment or longer. All others are asked to make a commitment of 2-8 weeks. Summer Camp is our greatest short-term volunteer need.
Elderly Services: Elderly Housing volunteers needed to complete minor home repair jobs for elderly participants. Will serve in a team with other volunteers and staff. No previous experience necessary.
Housing: Volunteers needed to complete minor and major home repairs and new construction for families in need. Housing volunteers serve in teams under the direction of a skilled employee crew leader. This summer, Housing volunteers may help renovate a new CAP facility to house volunteer groups. Volunteers frequently help to lead church and college groups. No previous experience necessary.
Long-term (12-month commitment)
We will next welcome long-term volunteers in August/September, and we will accept applications until positions are filled. We are currently seeking applicants for Disaster Relief, Domestic Abuse Centers, Educational and Recreational Programming, Elderly Services, Family Advocacy, Group Hosts, Housing and Human Resources. See our Service page for more details.
