Christian Appalachian Project congratulates all recent college graduates on an impressive achievement. We especially wish to congratulate the 14 and counting recent grads who have joined us or will be joining us as long-term volunteers this summer and fall. Take a moment to meet some of our volunteers from the Class of 2010:
Stacey Brusca
Stacey, a recent graduate of Brandeis University, joins CAP from Connecticut. She studied Psychology and Sociology at Brandeis and will begin serving at Rainbow Respite in August. She will live in Rockcastle Volunteer House.
Kayla Casey
Kayla served as a summer camp counselor at Camp Andrew Jackson last year and caught the long-term service bug. She graduated from Berea College in Kentucky with a degree in Child and Family Studies. She now serves in Child and Family Development. Kayla is originally from Ohio and now calls the Mt. Vernon Volunteer House home.
Sara Crombie
Sara, originally from the Columbus, Ohio, area, graduated from Bellarmine University in May with a degree in Psychology and Sociology. Sara was a WorkFest all-star, having participated in CAP's alternative spring break all four years of college. She will serve in the children's program at one of CAP's Spouse Abuse shelters beginning in the fall.
Sarah Eisenberg
Most recently from Richmond, Kentucky, Sarah graduated from Georgetown College in May with a degree in business. We're happy to have Sarah as our first long-term volunteer to serve at Grateful Threadz, a secondhand store that provides families a place to find affordable clothing and household items in an environment that respects their dignity. She also serves at Grateful Bread Food Pantry. Sarah lives at Mt. Vernon Volunteer House.
Bethanie Gentile
Bethanie also has previous CAP volunteer experience, having served at Camp Shawnee and WorkFest before taking the leap of faith into long-term service. She graduated from Rivier College with a degree in Nursing. She will serve in CAP’s Housing program beginning in July. She will live in Floyd Volunteer House.
Christel Jene
Christel, from Naperville, Illinois, received her degree in Music Education from Milikin University. She will serve as a Educational and Recreational Programming volunteer beginning in August. She will live in Jackson Volunteer House.
Megan Kruse
Megan completed her degree in Psychology from the University of Dayton in May and plans to join CAP in September. Megan will serve in CAP's Elderly Services program, serving in on a team of volunteers that completes small home repair projects for homebound senior citizens.
Trevor O’Brien
Trevor, originally from Massachusetts, recently earned his degree in Marketing from the University of Notre Dame. Trevor will serve in CAP’s Housing program beginning in July. He will live in Jackson Volunteer House.
Shanna Rose
Shanna, originally from the great state of Texas, graduated from North Carolina State University this year with a degree in Political Science. Shanna will move into the McCreary Volunteer House in August to serve in CAP's Housing program.
Alister Willard
Alister Willard came to CAP in May 2010 after graduating from Regent University in Virginia. He serves in Elderly Services in Jackson County and lives at the Jackson Volunteer House. Alister is at CAP because he is committed to using his time and resources to help improve the quality-of-life of people in need. Alister's brother, Ian, is a short-term volunteer in the Housing program.
Jessica Wirth
Jessica just earned her degree in Early Childhood Education and Visual Arts from Stonehill Collge in Massachusetts. She is originally from New Jersey, but will call Kentucky home for nine months beginning in August. She will serve in Child and Family Development and live in Johnson Volunteer House.
