We are hoping and planning to have in-person camp this summer! We need YOU there to be a hero for kids in need. Join Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) as a volunteer at our summer camps for children ages 7-15. In Appalachia, economic challenges often mean that families are unable to afford a traditional summer camp experience. At CAP we charge just $20/child, so it’s a camp experience that all the families we serve are able to give their children.
Our camps are made possible in large part because of the more than 60 volunteers who come from all over the country to serve as camp counselors, lifeguards, nurses, arts & crafts instructors, photography coordinators, office helpers, and cooks. We ask for a minimum commitment of three weeks, but encourage volunteers to serve the entire summer if they are able. AmeriCorps opportunities are also available and members receive an Education Award in the amount of $1,222.
All volunteers are provided with room and board on site for the duration of their commitment. Individuals committing to serve the full summer are eligible to receive travel reimbursement (up to $400).
