The first week of May is a very special time at Christian Appalachian Project (CAP). For the week leading up to the National Day of prayer, Christian Appalachian Project staff commit to 15-minute windows throughout the day to lift up participants, donors, and volunteers in prayer.
On May 5, 2016 employees and volunteers from all CAP locations came together to celebrate the National Day of Prayer. During the service, staff members lit a very special candle that was provided by CAP supporters.
In February, a small prayer candle was sent to some CAP supporters, requesting that each supporter say a prayer and return the candle. Then all the candles could be melted together to have one unified prayer candle to light for the families CAP serves. This magnificent candle is a powerful symbol of the love and support that CAP’s generous donors have for the people of Appalachia.
At the beginning of the ceremony, a prayer was said and a candle was lit for CAP’s participants, volunteers, and donors. During the service, staff members take time to reflect on CAP’s mission and pray for the people CAP serves and the people who make that service possible.
Without the generous support of donors, CAP would not be able to continue its mission in Appalachia. Thank you for your commitment to CAP and the people we serve. Please keep the children, their families, and the seniors in need in your prayers and know that you are in ours.
