Every summer CAP's Family Advocacy department serves children and their families through a School Readiness program.
Staff and volunteers work together to take applications directly from families in need of assistance. For many families on a low/fixed income the cost of obtaining required supplies, especially for multiple children, can take a real financial toll. Children who participate in CAP's School Readiness program are provided with school supplies along with hygiene kits, a pair of shoes and new school clothes. These items provide each child the ability to start back to school with confidence.
The School Readiness program is a result a tremendous cooperation and partnership. Working together are those who contribute financial donations, churches and individuals who collect notebooks, crayons and other supplies, and long-term volunteers who put together backpacks and organize distributions in each county. All together this year the School Readiness program served 213 families with 497 children receiving school supplies.
If you'd like to be a part of this great program please contact us to find out how you can be involved. We're currently looking for a long-term Family Advocacy volunteer to start this January.
