Retiring from the workforce doesn't have to mean retiring from serving God and neighbor. Join Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) in our mission to build hope, transform lives, and share Christ's love through service in Appalachia. CAP is an AmeriCorps program serving people in need including children, their families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities. Our volunteers come from all ages, backgrounds, and places across the country to make a difference for families in need in Eastern Kentucky. In fact, many of our volunteers are retirement age, and their valuable life and career experiences make them invaluable members of our programs.
Placements are available in a variety of positions from Home Repair to Education, Hunger Relief, Elder Care, and more. During their year volunteers live in intentional commmunity (married and/or indepent living options are available, if preferred) and make a commitment to spiritual and/or personal reflection. Volunteers are provided an AmeriCorps Education Award ($5,815), monthly stipend, room and board, health insurance, travel reimbursement, and vacation/holiday time.
We are taking applications now for entry dates throughout 2017! For more information on application, interview and entry dates, check out our Admissions Timeline.
