Welcome our January Class!
Serve a year in Appalachian Kentucky
Christian Appalachian Project is currently accepting applications for our August 2014 long-term volunteer orientation class. Long-term CAP Volunteers make a commitment of one year to Service, Community, and Spirituality in eastern Kentucky. These volunteers offer their education, experiences, skills, and compassion in fighting some of the region's most persistent challenges, including substandard housing, hunger, chronic poverty, domestic violence, and lack of education.
Welcome new long-term volunteers!
In September, Christian Appalachian Project commissioned 28 new volunteers for a year of Service, Community, and Spirituality in Appalachia. As is our tradition in CAP, all current volunteers and many CAP employees gathered to prayerfully commission these volunteers. View pictures from Commissioning.

Apply by August 16 to volunteer for a year
We at the Christian Appalachian Project Volunteer Office are excited for next month, when the first of our more than 20 new long-term volunteers will begin arriving. If you would like to join our fall class (some of whom are featured here), we still have several positions available. Our application deadline is August 16, but we would prefer to fill these positions as soon as possible.
A year “on:” Gaining (and giving) professional experience as a volunteer
Mike, '08-'09, and Julianna O'Brien, '11-'12, were both called to full-time jobs at CAP. Mike, who served many summers at Camp AJ before serving a year in Housing, is now the Coordinator of Camp AJ. Julianna, who also served at Camp AJ as well as with Family Advocacy, is now a coordinator in CAP's Housing program.
Class of 2013: A few of our incoming volunteers
The Christian Appalachian Project would like to congratulate all members of the Class of 2013! We're especially excited for those 2013 grads who have answered the call to serve as long-term CAP Volunteers. Below is some information about a few of our new volunteers who are joining the Christian Appalachian Project directly after graduation this summer and fall. More names will be added to our list as we continue to review our applications.
